Institute of History
The Institute of History is the leading scientific institution in the field of historiography in Bosnia and Herzegovina, specialising in the study of the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina from the early Middle Ages to the most recent days. In addition to researching the histories of our country, the Institute’s mission is to become the place of exchange of ideas of historians, not only from the Balkans, but the meeting place for co-operation of historians from various parts of the world. In addition to improving the knowledge of the universality of historical events in its own country, the Institute of History has a mission to become a research centre that will open up opportunities for the convergence of various schools of historiography and the meeting place of historians from the East and the West, just as Bosnia and Herzegovina throughout its history has been the meeting place of the various civilisations. The mission of the Institute is to affirm a critical view of history.
